A few years back we did a wonderful (mini) Fall cider gathering in the garden and I have been fondly thinking of it ever since. This year Marta is doing it again! This Friday from 1:05 through 3:30, please swing by the garden for some hot apple cider and try your hand at the apple cider press! If you bring a jug, you can take some of your own squeezed cider home! There will be some herbs and other goods for sale as well.

🍂✨ Wishing all families a joyous and cozy Autumnal Holiday filled with warmth, love, and reflection. 🍁
As we enjoy this season of change, let’s also honor Indigenous Peoples' Day by celebrating the vibrant cultures, traditions, and enduring contributions of Indigenous communities. See you back in school on Tuesday, Oct. 15th!

The New Mexico Public Education Department has issued new guidance for handling threats that originate on social media. Recently, schools across the nation have seen a surge in social media threats—many of which are hoaxes or pranks. Even when these threats are unfounded, they can still lead to widespread fear, the cancellation of events, and a strain on resources.
We urge everyone to be vigilant online and report any suspicious activity to authorities. Let's work together to keep our schools safe and protect our community's well-being.

We are beyond grateful to have Ms. Shelley here at the school! Her kindness, joy, commitment, and love for the school and its community are remarkable. She is one of a kind (in all the best ways!) and we are excited to help her celebrate her birthday today! Acequia knows how to do it up for the people they admire!

The auction is an incredible event organized by AMES parents and can bring tons of positive media attention to our little school while publicly linking us strongly to the arts. We need your help to pull this off successfully! THANK YOU!

Thank you to all those who came out in support of the pet parade! We had a great showing of parents, students, and staff, and were even able to parade the paper mache bull!

We are trying to figure out what interests, knowledge, skills, talents abound in our community, so we can reflect the values of our community in our learning at school.
Please take a moment (maybe ten minutes??!) to fill out the survey and help us along with maximizing our community strenghts: https://forms.gle/6h5RjZsby7iZ2vyQ7

We are SUPER STOKED to inform you that the PTC is bringing BACK the incredible ART AUCTION on NOVEMBER 16th, 6pm - 9pm, at the Farmers Market Pavillion!!!
Because this is completely run by AMES parents, we are looking for volunteers to ensure a successful return of the fabled (probably somewhat renewed) auction. Please email abigail.f.feldman@gmail.com if you can help out with the organization or at the actual event (even if just a little bit!).
THANK YOU to the PTC for organizing this highly coveted (but work-intensive) event!
SAVE THE DATE!

Polling the students in the upper grades (5th and 6th grade) who have been at the school for years is a great way to get an honest feel for school climate and impact of initiatives. There are always things to tighten up and work on - education is a process, never a product -, but it looks like we are on the right track at Acequia Madre!

Due to last minute changes in our projected enrollment (families who accepted a seat but didn't show up), we are still welcoming up to 5 new kids in Kindergarten and up to 2 kids in 1st grade. Help us spread the word!

What students do both inside and outside of the classroom impacts their educational success. When students participate in activities outside the classroom, such as clubs, sports or school events, they develop a sense of belonging and community. Check out this week's SFPS Bulletin at https://conta.cc/3X6DVUb and the perspective of Lucas Robbins, a senior at Mandela International Magnet School and student member of the SFPS Board of Education, as he discusses student engagement!

Tomorrow is Friday! For those who were part of the Acequia community last year, you know this means:
1. Bike or Walk to School option - We meet at Patrick Smith Park at 7:30 and leave to school all together by 7:40.
Bikers, please walk alongside your bike when in the parking lot area or on the side paths at school. This keeps it safe for everyone (pedestrians, cars, and bikers)!
2. Spirit Day - Our colors are black and gold! We encourage students (and parents :)) to wear our colors or Acequia Madre shirts/hats/.. tomorrow. We are proud to be part of a great community and we like opportunities to show it!!
Go Matadors!
