Thank you for a great evening yesterday - we had a big showing and were very happy to see all of you!
The federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the state Public School Code permits you, as a parent, the right to request information about the licensure and other qualifications, teaching assignment, and training of your child’s teacher, instructional support providers, including paraprofessionals, and school principal(s) who may work with your child.
If you are interested in requesting this information, please contact your principal.
Santa Fe Public Schools Board of Education will hold a Special Meeting on August 28, 2023 at 5:30 PM to discuss the Fiesta Court - SFPS site visits.

Last Friday, we held our first district-wide Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Day! While the Office of Student Wellness has been focusing on SEL for years, these efforts increased since the pandemic. SEL Day was an initiative that began last winter at Capital High School in collaboration with Communities in Schools.
Students participated in a variety of activities across the district, such as yoga, gardening, scribbling and art, movement and dance, and much more! These activities help students and staff develop healthy identities, manage emotions, feel and show empathy and make responsible and caring decisions.
SEL builds social and emotional skills that increase student engagement and has been proven to improve academic performance. Participating in SEL programs has been linked to decreased emotional stress, better relationships with teachers and stronger feelings of belonging and inclusiveness in schools.
You can read more about SEL Day from The New Mexican: https://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/education/santa-fe-public-school-district-hosts-first-ever-districtwide-social-emotional-learning-day/article_5d7b3960-3874-11ee-aee4-7bc93345e577.html

Dear AMES families,
The district is currently fixing a sync issue with our main communication platform Remind. In the meantime, here are some quick updates - spread the word!:
1. On July 20th, I became the proud father of a baby Matador - Ezra Joaquin! I don't typically share family pictures in a professional setting, but I consider the AMES community extended family :)
2. Supply lists are available on our website acequiamadre.sfps.info (There is a button link towards the top of the page that will take you to the supply list.)
3. First day of school for grades 1-6 is August 15th. Kindergarten kick-off is August 15-16. First day of school for Kindergarten is August 17th.
More information will be sent out as soon as I can reach ALL families through Remind.
Take good care and enjoy your week,
Dr. D.
